How to prepare your logo for embroidery (and what we do if you cannot)

Formats, minimum sizes and details that thread can (and cannot) reproduce. Free digitizing included.

Embroidery draws with thread, and thread has a physical thickness: knowing three basic limits avoids 90% of the problems.

The 3 limits of thread

  • Text: legible from about 4 mm letter height. Below that, it fills in.
  • Fine lines: minimum around 1 mm thick; thinner rules disappear.
  • Gradients: thread does not blend like ink; they are simulated with mixed stitching or replaced by flat colours.

Which format to send us

Whichever you have. Seriously: JPG, PNG, PDF or vector. A vector file (AI, EPS, SVG) speeds up the work, but we turn any reasonable image into a clean digitized file. This service — which others charge for — is included at JN Bordados.

What happens after you send it

Our team digitizes the logo stitch by stitch, chooses densities according to the destination garment and sends you a digital proof. Only when you say go do we embroider. And the digitized file is kept forever: your repeats come out identical.
